Burgdorff's History of Excellence

Our company was founded in 1958 by Douglas and Jean Burgdorff. From their modest home office in Murray Hill, they dedicated themselves to providing outstanding service to every individual. Following Douglas’ death in 1968, Jean took over as President. During her tenure, the company evolved as a major force in the New Jersey real estate market with a strong relocation division, outstanding training programs, and both insurance and mortgage affiliations to more fully serve their clients.

Since these early beginnings, Burgdorff ERA has grown into a 700-agent company with 16 offices throughout northern and central New Jersey. Building on the initiative, spirit and commitment of the original owners is Pat Hoferkamp, President and Chief Operating Officer, who began her career at Burgdorff ERA in 1998.

While holding fast to the original qualities of family, ethics, professionalism and personal service, Pat and the entire management team have created enhanced programs for clients and sales associates alike, from progressive training opportunities to unprecedented marketing and referral networks. Today, Burgdorff ERA is part of NRT, Inc., the largest residential real estate brokerage firm in the United States.

We think globally. We work regionally. And we serve personally.
